Getting married at a Colorado farm wedding venue provides a rustic and memorable background for your wedding celebration. Farm weddings are some of my favorite to photograph, offering unique backdrops and lots of room for personalizing your day. As a photographer, I have worked at many rustic venues and have created a list of my tips and tricks for planning your Colorado farm wedding.
Tip 1: Selecting Your Colorado Farm Wedding Venue
As you begin searching for Colorado barn wedding venues, look for wedding photographers who have shot other weddings at those locations. You may be able to see images that show angles unique from those shared on the wedding venues website. I have featured a few of my favorite Colorado barn weddings and engagements on my blog.
Tip 2: Helping your Guests Find the Location
If possible, select a farm venue that is easy to locate. Many of your guests may be from out of town, and country roads are sometimes difficult to navigate. Provide signage leading from the largest common road and share with your guests any maps or navigation recommendations you may have.
Tip 3: Plan for the Unexpected
As with all outdoor venue options, be prepared for Colorado’s unexpected weather. It may be a beautiful sunny Colorado day, but in case Mother Nature has other ideas, it doesn’t hurt to have umbrellas, blankets or a tent ready to go (just in case). Most Colorado barn wedding venues have backup options for your ceremony or reception and typical Colorado weather can change quickly back to a beautiful day. Brides and grooms who go with the flow are often rewarded with stunning once-in-a-lifetime photo opportunities.
I love the blend of glamor and rustic that a Colorado farm wedding can provide. From barns to fields full of wildflowers, your wedding pictures will be a memory you’ll treasure for a lifetime.
