With four years experience as a Colorado wedding photographer I have seen all sorts of wedding planning processes. Whether you are eloping or have been engaged for years, your wedding day is all about you! I’ve put together a short wedding checklist of what things you need to address as your head towards your wedding day, no matter what timeline you are one.
SELECT A WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER
If you are here, you are already on the right track! My schedule is often full 3-6 months in advance, but occasionally I will have cancellations and can fit in quick elopement weddings. I’d love to talk with you about your plans as soon as you are ready.
BOOK WEDDING VENUE AND DATE
There are lots of factors to consider as you decide where and when you wish to get married. I’ve compiled a list of Colorado wedding venues I’ve worked at and recommend.
TAKE ENGAGEMENT PHOTOS
Engagement photos allow me to get to know you prior to your wedding day and provide the opportunity to capture your love and personality before the big day. If you wish to use your engagement photos as a save-the-date, or include them in your invitation, it is best to schedule the photos several months before your wedding. Take a look at my engagement photo tips for inspiration for your photo shoot.
SHOP FOR A DRESS
Ordering a wedding dress can take three or four months. Dependent on what style you are looking for, you may be able to find a dress off the rack that you can take home right away. Once you have your dress, you’ll need to have it altered specifically for your size. If you’d like to do bridal portraits, plan to have your dress altered several weeks before the wedding date.
INVITE YOUR GUESTS
If most of your guests are local, they may not need much notice to attend your wedding. When many guest are out of town, send a save the date and/or invitation as soon as you have selected the date.
SELECT WEDDING VENDORS
From the cake to the officiant, there are a lot of people you may need for your wedding day. Check with your venue to see if they have any suggestions or browse through my list of recommended wedding vendors.
ENJOY YOUR WEDDING
A lot of planning went into your day, and now is the time to enjoy and celebrate! Everyone throughout the day is there to support you! Your wedding photos will be ready 12 weeks after the wedding, but usually sooner.
