Alright, you are in for a treat with this Denver branding session!  Alex reached out to me to document herself on her 30th birthday, and create some branding photos for the cook book she is working on.  Alex is an amazing cook, and especially loves her dumplings, pho and cinnamon rolls, so we made sure to document some of those.  We spent two whole hours working together.  This session was a dream, and I can’t wait to work with so many more creatives in the future.

Planning Alex’s Denver Branding Session

Prior to each Denver branding session, I work with my clients to learn about them, their visions, and what they plan to use these photos for.  For Alex, there were a handful of things that she planned to use these images for.  She’s creating her cookbook which she needed images for, she’s a blogger so she needed some photos for updating her website, and then she also planned to use these images on her social media @dabblingwild!

Choosing a Location

Knowing these things we knew we wanted to find a space that had a homey feel to it, but also had a couple of different backdrops so we could shoot a variety of images that could be used on her feed and in her other spaces in multiple different ways. I have a studio in Denver that I LOVE for branding sessions because of its natural light, its open kitchen, and the variety of backdrops it offers for a session.  There are SO many cool locations throughout Denver though that fit a variety of brands.  Sites like Peerspace and home studio list, are great spaces for finding studio rentals and homes that fit your brand and vision for your session.

Prepping for Her Branding Session

Prior to her branding session in Denver, I asked Alex to prep some of her favorite foods, as well as have some loose ingredients ready to bake.  Because we only have two hours for a branding session, having food items at different stages of the preparation process allows us to document the entire cooking process without actually having to wait for the food to cook.  We did this for her cinnamon rolls as well as her dumplings and pho.

Then Alex also brought a few more of her favorite foods and dishes to document throughout the session alongside those dishes.  She loves a good microwavable ramen meal, her favorite fast food as well as a birthday cake to celebrate her turning 30.  Alex also had pre-selected a handful of outfits that had a couple of layers so we could showcase a variety of different looks, hairstyles and feels throughout her session.

During Alex’s Branding Session

Throughout Alex’s Denver branding session I wanted to make sure I took a wide variety of photos.  For each outfit and food item.  Close ups of her hands as she prepares her food, some a little more serious images with her focused on her craft, some showcasing her bubbly personality, and even some images showing off her little dogs!  A little bit of everything so she can use these photos in all of the areas she needs to throughout her brand, cookbook and anything else she might need these images for.

I love how Alex’s photos turned out and my Denver branding sessions in general. Getting to work alongside fellow creatives and document their craft is always such a unique and fun experience.
