When planning a wedding, one of the largest and most important decisions you’ll make is choosing the space where you’ll celebrate your love. Thankfully for anyone who decides to have their wedding day in the fantastic state of Colorado, we’re quite literally spoiled with phenomenal options here. There are so many in fact that it’d be impossible to cover them all in an article like this, which is why we’re going to limit our view a little. Today we’ll be taking a look at 8 of my favorite wedding venues in Colorado’s beautiful capital city of Denver!
Why Choose Denver for Your Wedding in Colorado?
Before we start looking at some of the venues that consistently provide an out of this world experience in Denver, we first need to discuss why you should have your wedding in Denver out of all the options throughout Colorado. Colorado may be known for its breathtaking mountainous landscapes, and don’t get me wrong they are TRULY breathtaking, but there’s also other factors to consider when planning your wedding. In terms of planning and logistics, a wedding in Denver is about as simple as it can be. The Denver International Airport is the main way anyone from out of state travels to Colorado, and there are endless options when it comes to hotels, Airbnbs, and VRBOs when choosing where to stay.
Also as we’ll soon see, Denver is home to some of the most charming, unique, and beautiful wedding venues in the state! Speaking of which, how do you know what venue will fit you and your vision best?
What to Look for in a Wedding Venue
The Setting and Style
The first thing you’ll want to be on the lookout for when choosing your wedding venue is finding a space that fits the style and vision you have for your day. As you get into the early planning process of your wedding, talk with your partner about what you two both imagine the day to look and feel like. Is the space chic and urban, warm and rustic, charming and historic, or something else entirely? Talk through what you both want your wedding day to be, and from there you’ll be able to narrow down your search to venues that can provide the setting you’re after!
The Spaces Available
One of the biggest deciding factors when it comes to choosing the right venue for your wedding day is the space they have available. This is important for a couple of reasons. First is that the size of the space determines your maximum guest count. Every venue has a maximum guest count, and some even have a minimum guest requirement in order to book the space for your celebration. Together with your partner, come up with a rough guest count for your day so that you know right away whether or not a venue will have the space you need to host everyone. The other reason the space your wedding venue has available is so important is because it can dramatically impact the flow of your wedding day.
I always love when my couples are able to minimize their travel time and instead maximize the time they spend with each other and their loved ones. The easiest way to do this is to choose a wedding venue that every part of your day can take place at. A venue that can host your ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception that also has on-site getting ready spaces AND opportunities for portrait photos is the dream scenario. Not every venue has the space to do this though, and that’s ok most of the time. In a city like Denver there are a ton of workarounds, like using a nearby Airbnb as your getting ready space for example. Just be aware of the spaces your potential wedding venue has and how that will impact the flow and feel of your day!
The Amenities Offered
Another area you’ll want to take note of as you begin your search for the perfect venue for your wedding in Denver, Colorado are the amenities each venue offers. Some venues have a ton of amenities that they include with every booking. Others have a ton of options as well, but offer them as separate add-ons to your package. Some venues have little to no amenities at all, and instead operate as a blank slate where you’ll need to book other vendors to provide what you need for the day. There’s no wrong answers in terms of which is best, it more so comes down to preference and how involved you’re looking to be in the planning and curation of your wedding’s amenities!
