A wedding day can take shape in many different ways depending on your priorities. For Kim and Anthony, theirs was focusing on the relationships they share with those closest to them. This, combined with the amazing setting of Planet Bluegrass in Lyons (which happens to be one of my favorite venues in Colorado), made for an unforgettable wedding experience for these two wonderful people. This day was SO special and such a wonderful wedding to document, and I’m so glad to finally be sharing it here on my blog!
Getting Ready and a First Look
The love that Kim and Anthony feel towards their friends and family was immediately clear from the very beginning of their wedding day. The time they spent getting ready with their loved ones was full of endless laughter and just so much joy. These two made a point to be present and involved in every moment of their wedding day, something I feel so lucky to have been able to witness and document for them. After getting ready in the company of their loved ones, it was time for their first look.
On the stunningly beautiful grounds of Planet Bluegrass, the moment came for Kim and Anthony to finally see one another in their wedding gear. There’s always so much emotion that comes from a first look, and this one was no exception as both Kim and Anthony were bubbling over with joy. They also chose to share their private vows with one another before their ceremony, deciding who would share first through a fun round of rock paper scissors. This moment was a sweet, personal, and intimate note to start the day on, and after some lovely portraits with friends and family it was time to get their ceremony underway!
A Colorful Wedding Day at Planet Bluegrass
Before their wedding ceremony began, Kim and Anthony were able to share a special moment with many of their loved ones during the signing of their Ketubah, which is a traditional Jewish marriage contract. I love that these two were able to include moments like this into their wedding day that made it feel that much more special and personal to them.
Up next was their outdoor wedding ceremony at Planet Bluegrass, which was simply gorgeous. There are so many details of the ceremony that I adore, from the string quartet providing the atmosphere, to their classic vintage microphone, and the colorful dahlias lining the aisle, everything just felt right! The ceremony itself was also completely unique to Kim and Anthony. For starters they shared vows that they’d written from the other’s perspective, which is something I haven’t seen done before. They did a few funny vows and one serious one, all of which neither had seen prior to the ceremony, so this was a TON of fun. They also had multiple loved ones come up to speak and offer advice on certain topics. Their messages were heartfelt and SO sweet, just another example of the amazing connection these two create with those they love.
Soon Kim and Anthony were officially newlyweds, and it was time to celebrate alongside their favorite people. Up first was a lovely outdoor cocktail hour!
A Night of Dancing at Planet Bluegrass
The grounds of Planet Bluegrass are absolutely breathtaking, and perfect for a casual and fun cocktail hour for any wedding day. With this being a late summer wedding, temperatures were a little hot, so some guests actually took a moment to dip their toes into the St Vrain River that rolls through the wedding venue to cool off. It’s moments like this that show just how lighthearted and joyful this wedding day was.
Their reception began soon after, and it took place underneath the gorgeous rustic pavilion of Planet Bluegrass. Complete with amazing speeches, some delicious food, and of course some awesome music from the bluegrass band Whitewater Ramble, it was an evening like none other. Prior to their first dance, Kim, Anthony, and I snuck out for some blue hour photos of the newlyweds. While we may have missed golden hour due to the phenomenal toasts of their loved ones, we weren’t bothered one bit as Planet Bluegrass is still remarkably beautiful during blue hour. Kim and Anthony made the most of this time, practicing some of their choreographed dance moves for their first dance, which made it even more fun. After an epic outfit change, we made our way back inside for that first dance and then a night of endless dancing with their loved ones!
If you couldn’t tell by now I absolutely adore these humans. Kim and Anthony’s wedding day at Planet Bluegrass was the perfect representation of the one of a kind love they share with one another and those they hold close. Weddings like these are what make me SO happy to be a photographer!
