Ashlee & David are so special. I feel privileged to have met them and been a part of their wedding journey. These two were naturals at loving one each other and being comfortable together in front of the camera. Such a joy to photograph them! Please enjoy this sweet Evergreen Three Sisters Park Engagement.
Also can we talk about David’s sushi shirt?! <3

How did you two meet?

We met playing bar trivia with friends.  We were part of a league that would play every Tuesday and we were pretty good!  We made it to the championship twice!  It was fun getting to know each other in that setting before we started hanging out outside of trivia, which eventually led to dating and now, marriage!

What do you love most about the other?

Ashlee – I love David’s drive.  Anything he gives time and energy to, he wants to excel at, be it his career, throwing a get-together with friends, or picking up a new hobby.  It also makes him a great partner because he really listens and takes it to heart if certain needs aren’t being met and works at it.  Plus, he’s sexy AF!

David – I love Ashlee’s fire and passion. She doesn’t care what is in her way nothing will stop her from helping the people or causes she loves. Her fire keeps us constantly going and her adventurous spirit always has us moving. She drives us to explore and not just sit around the house like we would if I made the plan.

Why did you pick your current wedding location and what went into that?

We sort of fell into the location. We had loved the Wash Park Boathouse but it is incredibly hard to book. We had almost moved on since we knew we wouldn’t be able to go to the lottery drawing for 2018 – which was the year we originally planned to get married in – since it would be far too late in the game to have a backup venue. But, in November of 2016, we looked at the remaining dates the morning after the lottery and there were 3 Sundays left for 2017. While it shortened our planning process by about 8 months we jumped on the venue since it has everything we wanted – good price, flexibility in catering and alcohol providers, and iconic Denver location that fit the number of guests we plan to have.

What excites you the most about your wedding day?

Ashlee – Other than marrying my life partner, I’m excited to have all our family and friends in one place.  A lot of our people are spread across the US and even the world so we don’t take it lightly that we can all of them in one place to share and multiply the love we’re asserting on this day.  I can’t wait to dance the night away with all our favorite people!

David – I am excited to share our big moments together with our friends and family. We have lots of people traveling into town to see us and can’t wait to dance and party with them. I’m also looking forward to seeing how beautiful Ashlee is going to look when I get to see her for the first time as my wife.

EVERGREEN ALDERFER THREE SISTERS PARK ENGAGEMENT SESSION

What advice would you give to couples planning their big day?

Ashlee – Don’t be afraid to nix tradition.  If something doesn’t fit you, you don’t need it, despite what the wedding industry might suggest.  For example, we are not having a cake.  David doesn’t really like cake and I don’t think I’ve ever actually eaten the cake at the wedding and can find it a little annoying when dancing gets interrupted to watch a couple cut the cake.  So we opted for an ice cream sundae bar – much more our thing – and our guests can enjoy it at their leisure!

David – Be yourself. Have the whole day be about you and your new life together. Also get a great photographer so you can remember all the fun times when they blur together.

What was your favorite part about the engagement session?

Ashlee – I loved the time spent together.  There’s something sort of intimate and raw about being in front of the camera together and letting that lens capture your interactions, conversations, and movements.  Plus, what a privilege to get to know our photographer even better so that, come the wedding day, we already feel like old friends and can be even more “in our element” in front of her camera while she works her magic!

David – I loved seeing how comfortable we were in a different situation. I always enjoy being close with Ashlee and having those moments captured so candidly was really fun.
