This Pastures of Plenty wedding had my cheeks hurting from smiling so hard. It was the most beautiful August day and the sun was golden and warm. The farm was filled with friends and love.
What was the favorite part of your wedding day? It was very important to have our first look when I was walking down the aisle to marry my husband. Our party captain, Kelly, made sure the bridal party entrance was synced with the DJ playing “She’s a Rainbow” by the Rolling Stones and when we exited to “New York, New York” by Ryan Adams. Our officiant, our dear friend Rocco, made our ceremony so personal and special, quoting “the gospel according to Bruce (Springsteen)” which was the perfect surprise for this Jersey girl!
What was your favorite thing to design/plan? Our venue, Pastures of Plenty, was completely turnkey – we did not have to design or plan much, which is exactly what we wanted. Again, our party captain Kelly was a seasoned professional, providing guidance on rentals (I’m so happy we did NOT rent a second tent and went with banquet tables!) and general insights to hosting a wedding on the farm. I also enjoyed working with the farm’s florist, Jill. She was very in tune to my ‘bohemian’ bridal bouquet and listened to my request for simple bridesmaids bouquets – not to overwhelm the girls’ floral dresses. If you want fresh farm to table food look no further than Pastures of Plenty Wedding venue.
If you could give one piece of advice to other brides who are planning their weddings, what would it be and why? We really had to rely on Google as we planned a destination wedding from Chicago, IL. Our advice would be to read vendor reviews, research social media, send email follow-ups and remember that if anything goes wrong the day-of your wedding, only YOU will know. So enjoy every moment, it goes by way too fast! Remember to take a look around and let it sink in that everyone on the farm is there to celebrate YOU!
Anything else you’d like to share with KMitiska Photography readers? Kim and her assistant, Kyla were excellent. We absolutely love how she captured memories from our wedding day on film. One thing I did not Google was photography poses for the bride and groom. We wanted more candid couple shots and I think research would have helped our ‘romantic and intimate’ photos look more authentically “us”.Where did you go for your honeymoon? What was the best part? After our wedding we spent a week exploring Colorado on our mini-moon: Estes Park, Breckinridge, Vail and Denver. We recently returned from a 2-week honeymoon in Europe: Iceland, Amsterdam, Munich (for Oktoberfest!), Florence, Tuscany Coast and Rome. It was a trip of a lifetime, so many good memories!
